Today I decided to draw something based off a prompt of “something you’d see in a Disney/Pixar movie. After 20 or so minutes of just doodling gestures and ideas I settled on this old lady.
Basically, her back story is that she’s a world renown scientist/inventor who has for decades competed against an equally capable male scientist/inventor. Their rivalry was always intense and it became historical within the greater scientific community. This goes on, and after many years they age and weaken, left presently as semi-retired oldbies. Age has not faired well for the man however, as he is unfortunately diagnosed with an unknown physical illness that medical professionals deem terminal. Confused and distraught at the idea that she could lose her one rival, she heads to the hospital he’s located in and announces to him that her semi-retirement is over and that she will discover more information about his medical condition. Science related hijinks and comedy ensues. She spends much more intimate time with her former rival than she’d ever had previously, and slowly comes to realize that she has actually loved him for some time.
Though she does make small achievements in understanding the condition she cannot make a breakthrough in remedying it. In desperation, she locks herself away in her old lab and furiously expends her time studying and looking for a cure. A few days pass when she is rung by the hospital, a doctor informing her his conditioned has worsened. She rushes to the hospital, her small elderly frame somehow knocking doctors and nurses and patients aside. He is conscious, but very weak and capable of only talking in short spurts. He confides in her that he has loved her always, and that his biggest regret was only not having told her sooner. She breaks down and apologizes to him for being unable to find a cure for his terminal illness, but he dismisses her apology and softly proclaims that his time spent her has been the best of his life, and that the toils and pains of his illness pale in comparison to their short romance. In tears she kisses him one last time as his life ceases.
At the epilogue, it is shown that she has decided to stay out of retirement and has opened up a charity towards the research and resolution of his medical illness. In his will he bequeathed to her all his property and possessions, cluttered and clashing, which she displays in her home all the same.
***IMPORTANT UPDATE: According to an anonymous pilot who has experienced first hand the life style of the duck community I am obligated to add that ducks have "bills". They are incredibly wealthy and should be taxed heavily to even out our economy.
